IN OUR COSMETOLOGY PROGRAM YOU WILL LEARN TRADITIONAL AND NEW WAYS TO COLOR, CUT AND STYLE CLIENT’S HAIR. THIS PROGRAM ALSO TEACHES ESTHETICS AND NAIL TECHNOLOGY. COSMETOLOGY WILL ALLOW YOU TO HAVE A VAST KNOWLEDGE OF THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY.

THIS PROGRAM IS FOR ALREADY LICENSED COSMETOLOGISTS. IT REQUIRES 100 HOURS WHERE YOU WILL EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF CUTTING. YOU WILL LEARN BARBERING SPECIALTIES AND BECOME A LICENSED BARBER.

School

Nail school has been the highlight of my summer! It’s been a very enjoyable school. Experimenting with products and designs has brought out more of my creative side! Talking to people and being a “built-in therapist” is so fun. Being meticulous and learning the proper ways of doing nails was very educational and easy to remember because it was burned into our brains. Thank you for making nail school enjoyable and worth giving up my summer!

Carla - Cosmetology instructor

I’m Carla, a seasoned cosmetologist and instructor with 38 years of enriching experience in the beauty industry. In 2023, I proudly added a Barber License to my repertoire, and with it, a Barber Instructor license, expanding my commitment to shaping the next generation of professionals.

My journey, which began in 1986, has evolved into a colorful blend of artistry, education, and now, barbering. Having worked in various salons across different states, I bring a diverse perspective to the classroom.

As an instructor for 36 years, my passion for teaching has only deepened. From extensive color classes to the latest in barbering techniques, I find joy in nurturing the talents of aspiring beauty professionals. Known for my loyalty, I am dedicated to the success and growth of each student.

Hello, Im Patricia formally known as PJ or Peej. I am the head educator of Downtown Barber school. I helped write and curate the curriculum for our amazing students. I am a momma of four beautiful babies and am married to the most amazing and supportive husband. I am so lucky I have a family that is supportive and a work family that believes in me. My mission is to knowledge myself with new trends, tips and information so I can bring it back to further teach and excel the barber students. I am passionate and thrive off of helping others achieve their dreams and goals.

why don’t you accept FAFSA?

why do you have a salon

located within the school?

We choose to stay private so that the school can remain more affordable than other options in the area. We want our students debt-free when graduating so they can start fresh without the added stress.

Our school is grandfathered in with the State before laws changed so we are able to have a salon located within the school. It offers graduating students a place to transition when completed.

what are student hours?

do you offer tours of the building?

Students can expect to be at school Tuesday - Friday 8am - 5pm and Saturdays 8am - 3pm.

During those hours you will have theory hour Tuesday - Friday from 8am - 9am for bookwork, quizzes, etc. The rest of the day you will be watching demonstrations and seeing clients to get hands on practice.

We sure do! It is actually highly recommended! Give us a call to schedule a tour with one of our amazing faculty members. At this tour, a lot of questions you may have can be answered as well.

how are tuition payments

made?

what do I need prior to the first day?

Application Fee is due at the time of applying to the program. A deposit of $500 will need to be paid to guarantee your spot in the program for your selected start date.

On or prior to the first day of school, your down payment specific to your program will be due. At that time you can choose to pay for your program in full, or have a monthly payment calculated for you. If making monthly payments, this payment is due on the 15th of each month.

On your first day you will need to be dressed in black scrubs and black shoes.

You will also need pencils, pens, highlighters, and a notebook.

OUR BEGINNING

Vogue Beauty College & Salon, originally called Hollywood Beauty College was opened by Vicki Ellis in 1959. Vicki made it her mission to create a positive environment that would encourage students to follow their dreams and achieve their career goals. Her dream was to empower others while providing an affordable and exceptional education.

NEW & IMPROVED

In 2017 Vicki’s daughter, Hallie Kane, became the new owner of Vogue. During her years of ownership she has expanded the Vogue buildings and created South East Idaho’s first and only barber program, Downtown Barber School. By doing this Hallie has created unique and new opportunities for the community.
